Currently, the main method for producing lithium hydroxide in the industry is the ore-based lithium extraction route, with the mainstream production process being the sulfuric acid lithium caustication, cooling, and crystallization method:

The lithium sulfate leaching solution is evaporated and concentrated appropriately, sodium hydroxide is added, impurities such as iron, calcium, and magnesium are filtered out, then cooled to -10~5℃, and decahydrate sodium sulfate is separated by filtration. The filtrate is evaporated, concentrated, and crystallized to obtain crude monohydrate lithium hydroxide, which is then dissolved, reacted with barium hydroxide, and the precipitate is separated by filtration. The filtrate is evaporated, concentrated, and crystallized to obtain monohydrate lithium hydroxide. If multiple recrystallizations or special refining agents are used to remove impurities from the lithium hydroxide solution, battery-grade lithium hydroxide products can be obtained.
